Eminem Albums & EPsĮminem released his debut album “Infinite” in 1996. He is also quite outspoken when it comes to politics and this can be observed in the lyrics of several of his songs. In 2008, he published his autobiography, ‘The Way I Am’ where he talked about his life as a poor working-class citizen in America and his struggles with addiction, mental illness, heartbreak and fame.Įminem has also set up the Marshall Mathers Foundation which aids teenagers and youth in need. The rapper also published his first book ‘Angry Blonde’ in 2000, which included commentaries on a lot of his own music and several previously unreleased photographs. Soon, his words gained attention in the underground hip-hop community and the rapper released his first EP, the ‘Slim Shady EP’ in 1997. It was also during this time that his daughter, Hailie Jade Scott was born with his long time girlfriend Kim Scott.ĭuring this very difficult time in his life, with no money to support his family, Eminem set out to express his frustrations through his music. He released his first debut album “Infinite” in 1996, which albeit sold less than a thousand copies, began earning him more stages and shows. but more often than not he was either shunned or deemed as not good enough. After failing 9th grade three times consecutively, he dropped out of high school and began his journey towards being a successful rapper by forcing himself on radio shows, freestyle rap battles, etc.

However, initially, the rapper was rejected in the community due to his race as rap and hip-hop is a genre usually dominated by the Black populace of the American society. He named himself M&M which he would later respell as ‘Eminem’. CareerĮminem started seriously rapping at the age of 14 and soon started gaining attention for his skills. Doing freestyle battles with his classmates in school was a respite in his otherwise unstable childhood and the torment of bullies. Mathers had been a fan of rap since a very early age and started rapping at the age of 4. Mathers attended Lincoln High School in Warren, Michigan from 1986 to1989. Due to this reason he had to switch schools multiple times every two to three months. The rapper spent his childhood moving back and forth from Kansas City to Detroit. His exceptional rapping skills together with his exemplary inclination towards rhyme and fluidity of verse has gained appraisal throughout the hip-hop communities inside and outside of the US. Since rap and hip-hop music in America is usually dominated by the Black section of the society, Eminem’s success is considered as having broken racial barriers in the scene, with the rapper gaining acceptance and acknowledgment from his fellow Black rappers as well. He has made his place as one of the best-selling artists of all time and also one of the greatest rappers America has ever seen. He is also a songwriter and record producer.
